Starting December 14, Eurostar will introduce its first direct train service connecting London and Antwerp, designed to make travel between the two cities more efficient and straightforward. This new route will feature four daily direct services departing from London St. Pancras, allowing passengers to bypass the usual train transfer in Brussels.
The direct journey from London to Antwerp will take about 2 hours and 41 minutes, offering a quicker alternative compared to the current option that involves a stopover at Brussels-Midi. This enhancement is expected to attract travelers seeking faster and more convenient travel between the UK and Belgium.
Despite the launch of these direct services, travelers returning to London from Antwerp will initially face some limitations. Antwerp Central Station is not equipped with the necessary UK border and customs facilities, meaning passengers will still need to change trains in Brussels for their return journey.
The introduction of this service is anticipated to significantly boost connectivity between the UK and Belgium. With Antwerp being a city celebrated for its vibrant fashion scene, flourishing diamond industry, historic sites, and culinary delights, this direct link will provide easier access for tourists and business travelers alike.
